Dona Ana Beach, also known as “Playas Dona Ana” (“Dona Ana Beaches”), is a tourist destination protected by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute; thus, it has flawless facilities: health services, private surveillance, ranches with roof and grill, bathrooms, dressing rooms, restaurants and bars, lockers and accommodation near the beach. It is located between Chacarita Beach and Caldera Beach, in the Pacific shore of Costa Rica, 10 km to the south of the center of Puntarenas.
This 700 m long splendid beach of dark sand, blue turquoise crystalline waters, can be found in the mouth of the Barranca River, with abundant mangrove vegetation surrounding it. In addition, its scenic beauty is combined with astonishing cliffs. Here, you can also find a great tourist attraction, the old railway tunnel called “Túnel de Caballo”.
Also, Dona Ana Beach has been given the Ecological Blue Flag thanks to its utmost cleanliness and perfect condition. For this reason, visitors have to pay a fee to contribute to the maintenance of these facilities. The ticket prices are the following:

In Dona Ana Beach, you can complete your experience in Esparza by practicing many activities, such as fishing, surfing, and other water sports; nevertheless, its opening hours must be taken into account: from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Besides, if you want to have a bath, you should be careful due to the strong currents and undercurrents originated in this beach.
