Guápiles is one of the three main cities that you will find during your journey from San José to Puerto Limón; it symbolises a gate from the Caribbean sea to Costa Rica’s Central Valley. Guápiles is a developing city and the connecting link to the different surrounding protected areas.
The city has a wide touristic offer and excellent accommodations, restaurants and shopping centres, a feature that has created a huge contrast among big cities and the unspoilt nature that surrounds this peculiar town.
