Undoubtedly, Guanacaste is one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica, since it contains a wide range of natural landscapes where people can have fun while being in contact with nature.
One of Guanacaste’s main features are its majestic natural parks and reserves. There, you can find a great amount of biodiversity and wild nature, and you can practice a wide variety of outdoor sports like mountaineering, hiking or horseback riding. Moreover, its parks and reserves allow camping on some areas, so you will have the opportunity to enjoy Costa Rican nature closely. Some of the most important national parks and nature reserves in Guanacaste are Santa Rosa National Park, Palo Verde National Park, Rincón de la Vieja National Park, and Bahía Junquillal Wildlife Shelter, among many more.
And, of course, Guanacaste is also popular because of its unspoilt beaches, where people can practice water sports; the kings of sports are surf and diving thanks to the crystal-clear waters of its beaches; some of the most outstanding ones are Playa Flamingo Beach, Playa Tamarindo Beach, Playa Nosara Beach, Playa Samara Beach, and Playa Conchal Beach.
And you cannot forget about Guanacaste’s charming villages, where you can discover the typical customs of Guanacaste and its welcoming people. The most interesting villages there are Nosara, Tamarindo and Nicoya, among others. Some people see Liberia as the most important town in Guanacaste, thanks in part to its status as the capital city of this state. It is also seen as one of the most beautiful cities in the area due to its colonial style and whitish streets.
All of this, together with its creole cuisine with its typical pork tamales or gallo pinto, turn Guanacaste into the perfect destination to enjoy and relax in the middle of the Costa Rican pure nature.
