Esterillos Beach is located in Parrita, in the province of Puntarenas, in the shore of the Central Pacific of Costa Rica, between Bejuco Beach and Hermosa Beach.
This amazing beach of gray sand is 7 km long over the shore of the Costa Rican Central Pacific, being divided into three sections: Esterillos Este, Esterillos Centro and Esterillos Oeste, the closest to Hermosa Beach. All of them are characterized by their beauty and natural richness, but most importantly by their impressive landscape covered by tropical forest, palm and almond trees.
The beaches delimited by Esterillos Este and Esterillos Centro have wonderful mangrove zones combined with the spectacular landscape that forms the Bejuco River, which separates them.
Nevertheless, in Esterillos Oeste, wildlife provides this beach with a unique personality, as it has streams and rocky promontories where you can find exotic animals that are typical of this habitat, like crocodiles, iguanas and different bird species. Esterillos Oeste Beach is one of the most tourist ones thanks to The Mermaid sculpture, by the puriscal sculptor Albino Valverde: it is a beautiful bronze mermaid sitting on the rocks looking at the ocean, whose base is submerged during high tide; thus, it looks like the mermaid rises from the surface of the sea. Another treasure of this beach are the natural swimming pools formed in the north due to its big, rocky zones, where fossil remains can be found.
Enjoy the scenic beauty of Esterillos Beach, where you can explore an incomparable landscape and complete your stay in Parrita by practicing many water sports, like surfing and snorkeling, or just horse riding at the seaside, an unforgettable experience.
