Reserva Biológica Hitoy Cerere (Hitoy Cerere Biological Reserve), in Costa Rica, is a real wonderful place where people are surrounded by the best of nature.
This spectacular area of 24710 acres is located in the Province of Limón and in Talamanca Mountain Range. Since 1982, it belongs to La Amistad Biosphere Reserve, and, since 1963, it is part of the UNESCO humanity’s heritage as it dwells the most special faunal and floral ecosystems of Costa Rica while having an incredible hydrographic network.
Named after the Hitoy and Cerere rivers that cross the reserve, this wonderful nature covers a territory of 64 acres or 71.68 acres of Bitárcaca Hill.
This reserve’s territory is quite rugged, because it is located in a mountain range, moreover, there are intense rainfalls which had lead to a complex water network. It also be taken into consideration that this reserve is composed of a number of water torrents that create rocky areas and high-rise waterfalls.
Even when all this characteristics produce a great contrast, this reserve has not been enough studied and visited, because it is difficult to get there. Once there, you can explore its rainforest and enjoy observing orchids near the big trees.
This is the best opportunity to discover 240 bird, 30 amphibious, 30 mammals and reptiles species that make it an unique place in the world.
