The Rio Fortuna Waterfall is located very close to La Fortuna de San Carlos. It is one of the main tourist attractions of these area of Costa Rica with its height of 229 feet. The cataract is provided with waters from the Cerro Chato, in the area of the Arenal Volcano. It is a really impressive views.
From the scenic view at the entrance it is possible to observe the higher part of the cascade, surrounded by lush nature. This is a so precious sight that images of it are included on textbook covers and tourist guides about Costa Rica and Central America.
It is advisable to wear a light, waterproof jacket since the weather is cool and wet, and it is also convenient to wear comfortable shoes, since there are lots of stairs to get to the waterfall’s bottom.
Once at the cascade’s bottom, you can enjoy a bath into a pond which is suitable for that purpose, but only for the bravest ones, since the water there is very cold.
This waterfall is very impressive due to its high volume of water and the power of this volume, even on the dry season. This is a high level of rainfall area, which makes the surrounding vegetation to be very lush and green. Undoubtedly, taking a bath in that incomparable natural setting or just sit there and observe the water falling will be an unforgettable experience that will last forever in your memory.
