Tabacon is located 7.5 miles away from the northwest side of La Fortuna, in the other slope of the Arenal Volcano. You can enjoy this incredible thermal waters spa in the province of Alajuela, a region of incredible contrasts.

It is very appreciated by both tourists and local people since it is one of the few natural spas of volcanic origin with low sulphur levels, which removes the strong odours that other similar spas have. You will not be able to find other volcanic thermal waters so pleasant and clean as this one in Costa Rica, not even in any other part of the world.

Thermal waters are both agreeable and healthy since they improve blood circulation and eliminate toxins. The rain slips in through the crevices on the surface of the volcano’s slopes, then the magma warms it up and when it comes to the surface, it carries minerals which are health-beneficial. Inside this spa, there are five different natural springs which temperatures range from 77 to 122 ºF and which volume is more or less of 80 litres per second. This spa is completely natural: there are not any areas that have been excavated and no human constructions were made to form these pools, as it is the usual system followed in other parts of the world. It also offers services like massages or beauty treatments, among others.

These natural pools are surrounded by unspoilt, beautiful, lush nature. This fact will make you forget that you are in a spa and you will truly think that you are in the middle of a wild jungle.

It is advisable to book your day-passes in advance, since the capacity is limited and it is usually full; sometimes, all the passes get sold in advance and it is impossible to get one for the same day that you buy it.
