The Banco Central (Central Bank of Costa Rica) is, without doubt, one of most emblematic buildings of Costa Rica, not only for its architectural structure, but also for its high historical content.
The Banco Central of Costa Rica is located in the vicinity of one of the most vivid and cultural squares of the Costa Rican city, the Plaza de la Cultura. The structure is renowned for the difficulties in its construction, specially those that occurred in the building of the three underground levels. You can find various exhibitions, among them, the visual arts collections and the “Sounds Metaphor” display stand out. Nevertheless, the most interesting feature of this building are the two galleries it houses: the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum and the Numismatics Museum because they are known for their high historical and cultural value in the Costa Rican society.
The museum houses services like guided tours, with which you can enjoy the pleasant talks and visual exhibitions, and its website, in where you can find an interesting blog and a multimedia application that can tell you more about the curiosities of the museum. It also has services like a cafeteria and shops where you can buy souvenirs.
