This building is also known as “Former Luís Ollé Department Store” and it is part of the architectural complex that is located next to Elizabeth the Catholic Square.
It was built in the early 20th century and it is a work by the Salvadoran architect Daniel Domínguez Párraga. Its neoclassical style gives it a commercial character, typical of the Costa Rican progressive spirit, which construction in brick masonry and the bronze dome stand out.
Originally was the first chapel of San José during the colonial era but since 1988 The Bank of Costa Rica has one of its branches there. It was declared historical and architectural heritage of Costa Rica in 2007.
